SEE DJERBA Project
My video work showcases different cultures and perspectives which would be interesting in its ability to foster cross cultural understanding and appreciation among attendees. The work that I would like to project features a CGI swamp, well and objects that would be an interesting mix within the landscape of the Djerba souq.
My name is Shreya de Souza and I am an artist from Goa, India, living and working in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A core part of my practice is making photographs, over which I film to use as landscapes within narratives. With interests that span methods of knowledge production and sharing, community building, personal history, and archives, the colonial history of Goa, social justice, sexploitation films, friendships, food, and flowers, I want to explore the wild spaces, disobedience and inclusivity offered by queer modalities of being where Queerness offers in roads and new vistas to the phenomenon of ‘otherness’.
